These Fine Art Pastel Pencils are perfect for fine detailed work and their rich pigmentation and a high degree of lightfastness guarantee brilliant results. The colours have a powdery texture and can be blended, smudged or dissolved with water. They are distinguished by their soft, velvet-smooth stroke. The pencils are round, varnished clear, and the end of each pencil is painted in matching colour. The pastel pencils have a lead made of unburnt, grease-free pastel chalk, encased in a shaft made of FSC-certified wood. This makes it possible to work cleanly with pastel crayons. The pastel lead has a soft, rich colour stroke.

With a diameter of 3.8 mm, the lead is not too thick and allows you to work out exact details.

Cretacolor recommends sharpening the pastel pencils with sandpaper. Also, short cone sharpeners for chalk pencils like the Cretacolor Sharpener or Artist’s Sharpener or hand-cranked pencil sharpeners (with short point adjustment) are suitable. Where sharpeners with a regular blade are used, they should be replaced regularly.
